Athabasca University

Athabasca University (AU) is Canada's leading distance-education and online university, offering a range of courses in arts, science and professional disciplines. It was awarded an Institutional Prize of Excellence by the International Council for Open and Distance Education in 2004, and became the first Canadian public university to receive accreditation in the United States in 2006.

On 20 April 2007, UniSIM and AU Governing Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to encourage direct contact and cooperation between faculty, staff and students. This wide-ranging partnership covers licensing of courseware for degree programmes and collaboration in research and curriculum development, among other activities.

​Beijing Foreign Studies University

The Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) is China's first institution specialising in foreign language studies and is a key university directly affiliated with China's Ministry of Education. Renowned for its strengths in language learning and multi-disciplinary studies, BFSU has had a long tradition of producing professional translators and interpreters for United Nations offices and top Chinese leaders.

To help develop a critical pool of translators and interpreters for Singapore, UniSIM signed an MOU with BFSU on 5 June 2007 to advance professional training in the field. The tie-up - covering advisory services, curriculum development, services for lifelong learning, student exchange and overseas study tours - benefits the Bachelor of Arts in Translation and Interpretation programme offered at UniSIM. The collaboration was extended in a new MOU signed on 16 June 2010.

Beijing Normal University

Beijing Normal University (BNU) is renowned for its advanced academic development and is one of the leading teacher-training and research institutions in China. It offers a wide range of programmes at undergraduate, graduate and PhD levels.

UniSIM's partnership with BNU began in 1999, under the former SIM Open University Centre. On 7 November 2008, UniSIM and BNU committed to jointly offer the Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature programme. On 7 June 2010, UniSIM and BNU agreed to jointly offer the Master degree for the same programme.

Cranfield University

Renowned for its aerospace programmes, Cranfield University in the United Kingdom is internationally-recognised as the best and most sought-after in aerospace education. It aims to transform knowledge to practical application - ingenious solutions in science and technology at the forefront of some of the world's most practical and cutting-edge projects.

UniSIM signed an MOU with Cranfield University, ST Aerospace and Singapore Polytechnic on 24 March 2008 to collaborate in the launch of Asia Pacific's first broad-based aerospace degree programme. Its curriculum covers the three critical areas of avionics, aeronautics and aerospace management. Under this collaboration, Cranfield University will also provide expertise in developing elective courses.

UniSIM and Cranfield University signed another MOU on 18 April 2011 to promote collaboration in aeronautical science, engineering and management to support the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Aerospace Systems.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Founded in 1925, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) is the only accredited, aviation-oriented university in the world. It aims to provide a comprehensive education to prepare graduates for productive careers with special emphasis on the needs of aviation, aerospace, engineering and related fields.

An MOU was signed between UniSIM and ERAU on 5 February 2010 to jointly offer two aviation degrees - the Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance and the Bachelor of Science in Aviation Business Administration. This is a landmark collaboration as it is the first time ERAU is working with an Asian partner to offer its undergraduate degree programmes. UniSIM and ERAU will also collaborate on other teaching and research activities.

Madurai-Kamaraj University

Established in 1966, Madurai-Kamaraj University (MKU) is a state government university renowned for its Tamil Language programme. MKU is among the nine universities in India conferred with the status of 'Potential for Excellence' by the University Grants Commission, India. It has also been accredited 'A Grade' by National Accreditation & Assessment Council, India.

In August 2005, UniSIM announced that it would offer the Bachelor of Arts in Tamil Language and Literature programme, in collaboration with leading Tamil language scholars from Tamil Nadu, India. In an agreement signed on 2 January 2008, MKU committed its professors to teach this course, with content modified to suit Singapore learners. This programme is the first of its kind in Singapore.

Nanjing University

Nanjing University (NJU), one of China's key comprehensive universities under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education, has been at the forefront of developments in teaching and research in China. It was the first Chinese university to provide doctoral education and is renowned for its strengths in multi-disciplinary studies.

On 17 April 2009, UniSIM partnered NJU to offer the PhD in Chinese Language and Literature programme. This collaboration is in line with the government's efforts to enhance Singapore's global competitiveness and status as an international academic and cultural centre.

Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts

Established in 1938, the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) is Singapore's premier arts institution, renowned for its high quality curricula, innovative teaching and artistic creations. It offers a diverse range of industry-relevant diploma courses covering 3D Design, Arts Management & Education, Design & Media, Fine Art, Fashion Studies, Dance, Music and Theatre.

On 17 March 2008, UniSIM signed an MOU with NAFA to offer special interest courses for adult learners, as well as the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Visual Communication with Business programme. The first of its kind in Singapore, this programme combines both arts and business, and aims to produce multi-talented, cross-disciplinary arts professionals. The MOU was extended for another five years from 17 March 2013.

Nanyang Polytechnic

Established in 1992, Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) aims to provide quality education and specialisation training with strong industry and international linkages. It is dedicated to setting new standards of excellence in educating young adults to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

With a Letter of Understanding signed on 8 April 2011, UniSIM will work with NYP to encourage NYP students from its Diploma in Social Sciences (Social Work) programme to pursue UniSIM's Bachelor of Social Work programme.

Nanyang Technological University

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a research-intensive university specialising in science and engineering. It has four colleges with 12 schools, and four autonomous entities - the National Institute of Education, the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Earth Observatory of Singapore, and the Singapore Centre on Environmental Life Sciences Engineering.

UniSIM and NTU signed an MOU on 21 October 2005 to establish academic ties, collaborating on advisory services of an academic, professional and technical nature. In a new MOU signed on 2 April 2009 to extend the collaboration, UniSIM and NTU agreed to explore cooperation in areas including curriculum development and research. An agreement was also signed on 20 May 2006, allowing UniSIM academic staff and students access to NTU's library resources.

National University of Singapore

A leading global university centred in Asia, the National University of Singapore (NUS) offers a global approach to education and research, with a focus on Asian perspectives and expertise. NUS is committed to advancing knowledge and fostering innovation, educating students and nurturing talent in the service of country and society.

On 9 March 2006, UniSIM signed an MOU with NUS to establish academic ties and cooperation between faculty and staff in areas of teaching, research and curriculum development. The collaboration was extended as agreed in a new MOU signed on 2 April 2009.

​Republic Polytechnic

The first educational institution in Singapore to leverage the Problem-based Learning approach for all its diploma programmes, Republic Polytechnic (RP) has six schools and two academic centres offering 41 diplomas in Applied Science, Engineering, Enterprise and Communication, Events and Hospitality, Infocomm, Sports, Health & Leisure, and Technology for the Arts.

On 4 December 2014, UniSIM signed an MOU with RP to jointly build the capacity of professionals in the education and sports sector by exploring mutually beneficial activities through collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing the training and learning outcomes of students from both institutions. These include the sponsoring of RP's School of Sports, Health and Leisure graduates to pursue UniSIM's Bachelor of Sports and Physical Education programme, and co-organising of guest lectures and conferences.

​SEED Institute

Established in 1989, the National Trade Union Congress' SEED Institute, formerly known as Regional Training and Resource Centre in Early Childhood Care and Education for Asia, is a leading specialist institute in early childhood studies in Singapore and the region. It was appointed by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency as the first private Continuing Education and Training Centre for the early childhood sector.

On 2 October 2009, UniSIM and SEED Institute signed an agreement to jointly offer Singapore's first local Bachelor of Early Childhood Education with Management programme. On 18 May 2011, SEED Institute committed to cooperate with UniSIM to develop the Early Childhood segment of the Bachelor of Early Childhood and Chinese Language Education programme. These partnerships leverage on the strengths of SEED Institute as a leading early childhood education institute with strong industry links in Singapore.

​Singapore Centre for Chinese Language

The Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) was established in 2009 to position Singapore as a centre of excellence for the learning, teaching and educational research of the Chinese language in a bilingual context. It is jointly set up by the Singapore Ministry of Education and National Institute of Education as an autonomous centre within Nanyang Technological University.

The SCCL hopes to enhance the teaching literacy, competency and professionalism of Chinese language teachers. On 23 March 2011, UniSIM and SCCL signed an agreement to jointly offer the Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language Education programme. On 18 May 2011, SCCL committed to cooperate with UniSIM to develop the Chinese Language segment of the Bachelor of Early Childhood and Chinese Language Education programme.

Singapore Management University

The Singapore Management University (SMU) is Singapore's first publicly-funded autonomous university. Modelled after The Wharton School, it is a business-focused university, with strong education and research programmes in business, accounting, law, social science, information systems and economics.

With the signing of an MOU on 4 May 2009, UniSIM and SMU agree to encourage collaboration between faculty, staff and students. Areas of cooperation to be explored include the exchange of information and general advisory services of an academic, professional or technical nature.

​Singapore Polytechnic

Established in 1954 to meet the manpower needs identified by the Government, Singapore Polytechnic (SP) is Singapore's first educational institution of its kind. It offers broad-based, multi-disciplinary and flexible curriculum dedicated to hands-on experience.

UniSIM signed an MOU with Cranfield University, ST Aerospace and SP on 24 March 2008 to collaborate on the launch of Asia Pacific's first broad-based aerospace degree programme. Its curriculum is designed to cover the three critical areas of avionics, aeronautics and aerospace management. On 23 July 2010, UniSIM also entered into an agreement with SP and the Building and Construction Authority to jointly offer courses for the Bachelor of Science in Facilities and Events Management programme, and an honours degree for the same programme. A new MOU, signed on 27 February 2013, encompasses existing and new UniSIM programme collaborations in teaching and capstone project supervision.

The Open University of Hong Kong

The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) is the first university in Hong Kong to offer open and distance education. It strives to provide high quality and flexible further education opportunities for adult learners.

UniSIM and OUHK signed a Licence Agreement on 25 November 2005 to strengthen academic collaboration. The agreement provides for the exchange of expertise for the development of academic programmes and pedagogy, sharing of course materials and services for lifelong learning, partnerships in research and development, and a course credit transfer arrangement.

The Open University, United Kingdom

The Open University, United Kingdom (OU) is the pioneer of distance learning in the UK and is currently UK's largest university. It received its Royal Charter in May 1969 and has built a heritage on excellence in both research and teaching.

UniSIM's parent company, the Singapore Institute of Management, began its partnership with the OU in 1992 when it was selected by the Singapore Ministry of Education to run the Open University Degree Programme (OUDP). In 2002, the OUDP was renamed SIM Open University Centre (SIM-OUC) when the OU granted the Singapore Institute of Management accreditation status. With its establishment in 2005, UniSIM assumed direct responsibility for the OU student enrolment.

In an agreement signed on 1 January 2008 with OU and its wholly-owned subsidiary Open University Worldwide (OUW), UniSIM can deliver certain courses and materials from OU to students. On 1 November 2010, UniSIM and OUW signed an MOU to explore areas of cooperation, including the provision of advisory and training services of an academic or professional nature, and the development and sharing of industry-relevant course materials.

​Universitat Oberta de Catalunya

Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) is an internationally-renowned online university that aims to provide people with lifelong learning and education opportunities. Its innovative learning model offers the benefits of personalised studies, flexibility, accessibility and collaboration.

On 29 September 2011, UniSIM signed a Framework Agreement with UOC, marking its first collaboration with a Spanish university. Under this partnership, UniSIM and UOC will explore areas of cooperation in e-initiatives, an online Chinese Culture Studies module, as well as student, academic and administrative staff mobility.

Founded in 1849, Universitas Indonesia (UI) is committed to producing a high quality education system and maintaining global standards in its research activities. The modern and multi-cultural university offers a wide array of scientific disciplines.

In 2010, UniSIM and UI signed an Agreement of Implementation to co-develop and deliver courses pertaining to Indonesian linguistics and literature for UniSIM's undergraduate programme in Malay Language and Literature.

Established in 1969, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is a research university which adopts a broad-based school system of innovative approach to higher learning. It also provides consultancy, testing and advisory services to the industry.

UniSIM signed an MOU with USM on 16 December 2008 to foster collaboration in a new Bachelor of Arts in Malay Language and Literature programme. This programme focuses on the history, origins and growth of a civilisation through the Malay language in the Malay Archipelago, and allow for a deeper understanding of the Malay language and culture in Singapore.

Founded in 1846, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York (UB) is a premier, research-intensive public university dedicated to academic excellence. Its alumni and faculty have produced a United States President, astronauts, Nobel laureates, Pulitzer Prize winners, and several other notable individuals in their fields.

UniSIM signed an MOU with UB on 10 May 2006, committing both institutions to the promotion of educational cooperation and academic exchange, and enabling UniSIM students to read courses from both universities.

Founded in 1949, University of Malaya (UM) is the oldest university in Malaysia and is today an internationally-acclaimed research university. It aims to advance knowledge and learning through quality research and education for the nation and for humanity.

On 6 January 2009, UniSIM signed an MOU with UM to offer Singapore's first Bachelor of Arts in Malay Language and Literature programme. This cooperation will expand the use of Bahasa Melayu at the international level through the sharing of expertise, syllabus and training.

Wawasan Open University

Wawasan Open University (WOU) is Malaysia's first private, not-for-profit people's university offering higher education to adult learners through the open distance learning mode. Established in 2006, WOU enables working adults to pursue their educational dreams through its unique learning model, self-paced learning and flexible study pathway.

On 4 February 2009, UniSIM and WOU signed a Licence Agreement granting the latter the rights to use UniSIM's course materials.
