Programme Overview

Never regard study as a duty but as an enviable opportunity to learn to know the liberating influence of beauty in the realm of the spirit for your own personal joy and to the profit of the community
~ Albert Einstein ~

Learning is a lifelong journey that we take on for many reasons: for the joy of learning itself, for gaining skills and knowledge to improve our lives and our careers. Learning shapes our mind and liberates our spirit, and the quest for knowledge itself is an enriching experience. Whatever the reason, learning is the way to a better future.

At Singapore University of Social Sciences, the General Studies Programme offers a vast selection of courses from the humanities to the sciences, ranging from art appreciation and music appreciation to overseas study missions (OSM). Wherever your interest lies, you can choose to study at your own pace, in your own time. You design your learning path and determine how long you want your journey to be.

No other tertiary programme offers you the range of courses like Singapore University of Social Sciences does: from our four schools, 60 programmes and more than 200 courses each semester. Many of these courses are there for the picking and unrestricted by discipline or level.

With the General Studies Programme, you are the architect of your course of study. The course design is uniquely yours.

Unlike other Singapore University of Social Sciences programmes, there is no time limit imposed on your length of study to obtain a qualification. This means that the General Studies Programme can be completed at your own pace.

Students are required to complete a total of 130 credit units (cu) to graduate with a basic degree in General Studies, of which 40 cu must be from Levels 2 &/or 3 courses and 10 cu must be from the UCore. We do not offer the Honours Degree programme.
